Two tufting heads to choose from

There are significant benefits for both the Pneumatic and Mechanical tufting head depending on what you are tufting, so we make both heads available to cater for different requirements in pile height, density, tuft effects, yarn material and yarn ends.

Mechanical Tufting Head

The Mechanical head was Wilcom’s original tufting head and is still unrivalled in it’s ability to produce a high level of detail and high densities. This is best suited to rug companies producing detailed designs, with wool yarns and requiring high density tufting. It’s also excellent for Over-tufting – cross hatch tufting in different directions across the same area, to give special texture and colour effects as well as single line tufting into previously tufted areas for fine line patterns without any registration issues.

Pneumatic Tufting Head

Wilcom’s patented Pneumatic head was first invented in 2006 and with continued innovation it is a fantastic choice for production reasons as well as creative effects.

It has the highest production rate at 1.5sqm/hr to 5 sqm/hour and is simple to operate and adjust. With less moving parts, the patented rotating needle makes the machine very durable and features a robust cutting system to handle a wide range of yarn types including linen.

The most exciting part about Wilcom AutoTuft Pneumatic head is the unbelievable creative effects it can produce. Have a look at some of the possibilities available for 3D effects, shag pile, loop and cut pile combinations and more. Click here
